Susan Powell, singer (November 28 "Home for the Holidays")
Susan Powell is an American singer, actress, and television personality from Elk City, Oklahoma. Crowned Miss Oklahoma in 1980 and Miss America 1981, she went on to build an international performing career as a coloratura soprano, appearing with opera companies and orchestras including the Seattle Opera, New York City Opera, the New Japan Philharmonic, and the Boston Pops. In 1993, she expanded into television as co-host of the Discovery Channel’s long-running home and garden series Home Matters, which she hosted for nine seasons. Powell continues to perform, lecture, and support arts and community initiatives, earning recognition from the Oklahoma Hall of Fame as an Ambassador of Good Will.
Caroline Cox Turek, violinist (April 10 "To the Skies!")
Caroline Cox Turek is an award-winning violinist, chamber musician, and educator who has performed as a soloist and collaborative artist throughout the United States and Europe. A first-place winner of the 2012 MTNA Collegiate String Division competition and recipient of numerous concerto and solo competition honors, she has appeared at venues including Merkin Concert Hall and performed with distinguished musicians internationally. Caroline holds violin performance degrees from East Carolina University, Mannes College of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music, and has taught extensively through private instruction and summer music programs for more than 15 years.
